How to reach this goal

Reaching sub 3 hours is not about more effort, but more precision. The training prescription derived from your Runlevel puts every session at the right intensity zone.

Breaking 3 hours in the marathon is the elite-amateur target. Pace precision alone is not enough — recovery, nutrition, and the ratio of training intensities all need strict management. Some coaches believe M-pace segments should make up 40-60% of long-run training, with one T (threshold) session per week and biweekly I (VO2 max) intervals to boost VO2max. Others argue that weekly volume of 80-100+ km is needed for sub-3. The intensity distribution must be carefully balanced to avoid overtraining and injury.
